A bunch of good Samaritans came together to save a driver from a burning car at the last second … and the harrowing rescue is all on video.
Dash cam video captured the tense scene moments after the driver ran off a freeway in St. Paul, Minnesota … crashing into a light pole. As the flames began to spread, several bystanders sprung into action, frantically trying to free the driver, who was trapped inside.
As you can see, up to 6 people grabbed the car doors and tried to force them open — they were nailed to a guardrail — so the driver could get out.
They had the whole car rocking as the flames rose higher and higher — but it was impossible to open the doors enough for the driver to squeeze out.
Kadir Tolawhose dash cam captured the scene, then grabbed a piece of discarded plastic from the highway and tried to break the window … but even that didn't do the trick.
Just when it looked like time was running out — several small explosions erupted under the hood — a highway worker arrived and managed to break the driver's window, and the driver was pulled out to safety.
Tolla tells FOX Minneapolis the situation was one of the scariest moments of his life — but he stopped to help because he realized it could easily have been him in this situation and hoped strangers would lend a hand if did he ever need it.
Paramedics rushed the driver to Regional Hospital for medical evaluation… and despite the terrifying ordeal, he miraculously wasn't seriously injured.
